Cohoon Consulting - Get Online. Learn the Tools. Own It.

Tyler Cohoon

Product strategist turned local business consultant. Based in Davisburg, MI.

Why I Do This

I spent 12 years building products — first as an engineer at Ford, then in tech startups where I shipped products, ran marketing campaigns, and talked to customers every week. Along the way I learned how to figure out what people actually need and build things that work.

When I looked around at local businesses, I noticed they didn’t have access to any of that thinking. They were paying too much for websites they couldn’t update, running marketing they couldn’t measure, and relying on people who had no incentive to teach them anything.

I started Cohoon Consulting to change that. I build the website, teach you the tools, and help you grow — and the teaching part is what drives me. My goal is always your independence, not your dependence on me.

We Built Our Own House

From early 2021 through the end of 2022, my wife and I were the general contractors on our own home build in Davisburg. While we did about 70% of the work ourselves, we still had to manage permits, source materials, and get quotes on the trades we needed help with.

That experience is a big part of why I work with trades and service businesses now. When you’re the homeowner running the schedule, you learn very fast which contractors return calls, show up when they say they will, hit their numbers, and stand behind their work. The good ones are usually small, owner-operated, and almost impossible to find online.

That’s the gap I want to close. The reputable trades deserve a real online presence so people can find them online.
